Walking Bus

The ‘Walking Bus’ is a successful initiative within school which has been operating for 9 years.  Every Wednesday children from Reception to Year 6 who live along or near to Lever Edge Lane walk together to school with our trained and experienced staff: Mrs Stones and Ms Dugdale.  The children sing songs and play games along the route and it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience where they get to make new friends.  On arrival at school the children are offered toast and juice to help get them ready for the school day.  The KS1 children will then be hand delivered to their teacher while the older ones are trusted to wait in the school playground for a few minutes until the bell rings.

The current route runs along Lever Edge Lane, it begins at the St William of York Catholic Church at 8:00am.  It will then make various stops along the way until it reaches school.  We are also interested in setting up a new route around the Sapling Road area of the school.  If you would like to know more about either of these routes, they are adaptable, please leave your details with Mrs Woods in the school office.

We look forward to hearing from you!
