At St Bede Academy, we pride ourselves on our varied and rich curriculum and this includes musical studies. Children from Nursery to Year 6 participate in weekly music sessions with a specialist music teacher. The school has a well-resourced music room with a wide selection of musical instruments that can both inspire and engage young learners. Pupils study instruments such as the piano, recorder, drums and percussion and the guitar as well as being given the opportunity to join our brass band or school choir. These groups perform throughout the year at events such as the Young Voices concerts, the annual Victoria Hall Music Festival and other charity and church events.
Trips to the Halle Orchestra give the children the opportunity to see and hear high quality music being made and further enrich their classroom learning, whilst the use of modern technology such as iPads for recording, composing and creating music add further relevance to an already notably exciting curriculum.
